Supergirl actress Melissa Benoist has bagged her first major TV role since she The CW series came to an end.
Benoist has officially been cast in HBO Max’s upcoming drama The Girl on the Bus.
The series is inspired by a chapter in writer and reporter Amy Chozick’s 2018 novel Chasing Hillary, and is based on her time covering Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign for The New York Times.
The upcoming drama will also see Benoist reunite with Supergirl executive producer Greg Berlanti.
She will star as journalist Sadie McCarthy, who, according to the series’ official logline, “romanticizes the original ‘Boys on the Bus'”, putting her life on hold to cover a presidential campaign.
“Sadie hits the trail and eventually bonds with three female competitors,” the logline adds. “Despite their differences, these women become a found family with a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town: the battle for the White House.”
